1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Marion Anna Schoppenhorst, nee Vahrenberg, 87, Holstein, was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at her home.

Marion, daughter of the late William F. Vahrenberg and wife Selma A., nee Lichtenberg, was born July 3, 1926, in Washington. She was united in marriage to Ralph Henry Schoppenhorst June 22, 1947, in Washington.

Marion was an active member of Immanuels United Church of Christ, Holstein. She played the piano for Sunday school for many years, and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship, and volunteered for lunch ministry for over 20 years. In the community, Marion was a member of the Happy-Go-Lucky Club and Women's Progressive Farmers Association. She also served as a 4-H leader. She loved quilting, gardening and being with her family.

Marion is survived by four sons, James Schoppenhorst, Robert Schoppenhorst and wife Cathie, Glenn Schoppenhorst and wife Becky, and Allen Schoppenhorst and wife Heather; two daughters, Marie Richardson and husband Steve, and Doris Murphy and husband Kevin; eight grandchildren, Tyler Richardson and wife Samantha, Timothy Schoppenhorst, Jason Schoppenhorst and wife Heather, Brianna Schoppenhorst, Maria Schoppenhorst, Glenn Schoppenhorst Jr., Nathan Schoppenhorst and Madeline Schoppenhorst; two great-grandchildren, Charlee Jo Richardson and Luke Richardson; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Henry Schoppenhorst; one son, Dennis Schoppenhorst; and parents, William and Selma Vahrenberg.

A visitation was held Friday, April 25, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville.

A funeral service will be held at Immanuels United Church of Christ, Holstein, Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
