Marvin Paul Thomure, 91, Washington, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Washington.|
He was born April 8, 1921, in Bonne Terre, the son of the late Augustus Thomure and wife Susan, nee Gidley.
Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was united in marriage to the late Wilma Jean Boyer, and they were blessed with four children. After her death, Marvin married Betty Nixon Aug. 4, 1979, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington.
He was active in his church and volunteered in many avenues: the Men's Club, Board of Finance and Earnest Workers. Marvin also was a member of the VFW.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty Thomure, nee Becker, Washington; three sons, Tom Thomure and special friend Linda Krausch, Washington, Roger Thomure and wife Velma Faye and Kenny Thomure and wife Kathy, all of Rosebud; one daughter, Paula Monehan and husband Gary, Villa Ridge; one brother, Gus Thomure and wife Jean, Bonne Terre; one stepson, Ronnie Nixon and wife Denise, Washington; three stepdaughters, Debra Oberndorfer and husband Darwin, Washington, Linda Smreker and husband John, Leslie, and Karen Branson and husband Ronnie, New Haven; one sister-in-law, Pat Edgar, Desloge; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; and two siblings, Aleta Kaelin and Harold Thomure.
A visitation was held Monday, April 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the church or the Jaycees All Abilities Park, checks payable to the Jaycees.
The family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
