Mary Ellen Satterfield, 78, Union, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Union. |
She was born June 20, 1934, in Rolla, the daughter of the late Ivan Williams and wife Nora, nee Brumley.
Mary Ellen received her education in Rolla. She was united in marriage to Ellis Wray Satterfield March 24, 1951, at Bland Baptist Church, Bland. The couple made their home in Bland and moved to Union in 1957.
Mary Ellen was employed at Frick's Market, True Vine Book Store, and drove a bus for handicapped children. She also taught Women's Bible Study in St. Louis and Washington. Mary Ellen was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wray; parents; one son, Stephen Wray Satterfield, in infancy; and one brother, Levi Williams.
Mary Ellen is survived by four daughters, Ellen Marie O'Brien, Sullivan, Dawnise Machelett and husband Carl, Cheryl Ann Machelett and husband Jim, all of Union, and Kelly Haley and husband Bill, Grain Valley; 13 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; one brother, Leon Williams and wife Irma, Union; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Carl Bay officiating.
Burial followed in High Gate Cemetery, High Gate.
Memorials to the Union Senior Center Foundation are preferred.
