Melvin B. Eckelkamp, 86, Washington, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in Washington.

Mr. Eckelkamp was born Nov. 25, 1925, in St. Louis, the son of the late Ben Eckelkamp and wife Ann, nee Stotko.
He received his education at St. Matthew School, St. Louis. Mr. Eckelkamp proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Sept. 19, 1950, to June 19, 1952.
On Sept. 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Aholt at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington.
Mr. Eckelkamp worked for Ford Motor Company many years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Washington V.F.W. 2661.
Mr. Eckelkamp is survived by his wife, Mary Eckelkamp, Washington; two sons, Gary Eckelkamp and wife Kathy, Paducah, Ky., and Brian Eckelkamp and wife Barbara, Washington; one daughter, Sharon Teale and husband Kevin, Altoona, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Zeke, Patrick, and Shannon Eckelkamp, all of Paducah, Ky., Kayla and Ashley Eckelkamp, both of Washington, and Kelly and John Teale, both of Altoona, Iowa; one sister, Dolores Kuchem, Washington; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Nov. 1, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington, with the Rev. Mike Boehm officiating.
Burial with full military honors followed in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Washington.
Memorials to St. Vincent de Paul or Our Lady of Lourdes Church are preferred.
