Rebecca M. Banderman Obituary
Rebecca May Banderman, nee Williams, 70, St. Clair, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018.

Rebecca, daughter of the late Harold Williams and wife Marilyn, nee Illig, was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Sedalia. She received her education in Hughesville, and graduated from Northwest High School in 1965. Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a minor in business from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, in May 1969. She went on to earn her master's degree in education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in August 1989. Rebecca was united in marriage to Duane Banderman June 3, 1967, at First Baptist Church in Hustonia. The couple moved around the state of Missouri for several years before settling in St. Clair in 1979. Rebecca was an elementary school teacher at Lonedell School for many years, before moving to the Union School District. She retired from the Union School District in 2010. Rebecca attended various churches throughout her life, and was always a strong and devoted Christian. She was an early riser and a daily Bible reader. Rebecca was also known for making chocolate pies and homemade bread. She was passionate about anything relating to children, and she and her husband counseled many newlywed couples over the years. Rebecca enjoyed playing the piano, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was happy to have gotten to spend the last year of her life traveling and visiting her family.

Rebecca is survived by four sons, Steven Banderman and wife Debi, Ankeny, Iowa, Mark Banderman and wife Megan, Berea, Ky., David Banderman and wife Val, Austin, Texas, and Paul Banderman, New Haven; nine grandchildren, Brennan, Nathan, Emma, Annabella, Madelynne, Marie, Charles, Thomas and Margaret; two brothers, David Williams and wife Janeene, and H.A. Williams and wife Darla, all of Hughesville; two sisters, Janice Lawson and husband Robert, Madrid, Iowa, and Anita Hanks and husband Rick, Hughesville; two brothers-in-law, Kirby Banderman and wife Kathy, St. Clair, and Jerry Reierson, Union; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Banderman; her parents; and two sisters, Linda McMullin and Jacquelyn Reierson.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Roots Church, St. Clair, with the Rev. Charles Keith officiating.

Burial followed in Virginia Mines Church Cemetery, Lonedell.
