Robert C. Pierce Obituary
Robert Clifton Pierce, known to all as Bob, 94, St. Clair, departed this life Monday, June 25, 2018, in St. Clair.

Bob was born April 2, 1924, in St. Clair, the son of Guy Rohan Pierce and wife Ida Mae, nee Chapman. On Nov. 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Laverne Amanda Kimker, and five children came to bless this union.

Bob was a Christian and lifelong member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair. He was an ordained deacon of the church and loved singing in the church choir. Bob remained an active member of the church as long as his health allowed. During his working years, Bob was employed at Alton Box Company, later known as Jefferson Smurfit, in Pacific, retiring after about 35 years. After his retirement, he took over the ownership of Pierce Printing in St. Clair, working until he was 92, and finally retiring after working at the business for about 30 years. The business was started by his father in 1940, first being named The Ozark News, and then later renamed Clifton Publishing Company. Bob changed the name to Pierce Printing when he took ownership. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, even building his own house in St. Clair. He also loved to watch old Western movies, and especially enjoyed the Lawrence Welk television show. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live on in their hearts forever.

Bob is survived by his wife, Laverne Pierce, St. Clair; three sons, Rohan Pierce and wife Charlotte, Schertz, Texas, Clifford Pierce and wife Zoe, and Jerry Pierce and wife Andrea, all of St. Clair; one daughter, Julie Gordon and husband Tim, St. Clair; two brothers-in-law, Alvin Kimker and wife Gladys, Sullivan, and Bob Kimker and wife Sherry, St. Clair; three sisters-in-law, June Heimbaugh, Washington, Sharon Roberts and husband Dan, Rogers, Ark., and Karen Griemel, Bourbon; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by one infant son, Timothy Pierce; his parents, Guy and Ida Pierce; and one sister, Edith Duckworth.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Jim Muir officiating.

Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, St. Clair.

The Pierce family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
