Ruth Kolb, nee Grossenheider, 83, Union, passed away Sunday Oct. 13, 2013. |
Ruth, daughter of the late Herbert Grossenheider and wife Stella, nee Palm, was born June 23, 1930, in St. Louis. She received her education in St. Louis, and graduated from Berkeley High School. She was united in marriage to William Kolb June 2, 1950, at Immanuel United Church of Christ Church, Ferguson. The couple made their home in Berkeley. They moved to Jennings in 1974, and later to Union in 1988. Ruth was a homemaker and took on occasional side jobs. She was an active member of her churches in St. Louis, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Union. Ruth also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kolb; two sons, Steven Kolb and Matthew Kolb; parents, Herbert and Stella Grossenheider; and two sisters, Lois Petruso and Melba Wehmeier.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Kolb and wife Debbie, Pacific, and Timothy Kolb and wife Debbie, Union; eight grandchildren, Dustin Savege (Maria), Devin Murrell (Tim), Ian Kolb, Kim Courtney (Tim), Lindsay Brown (Patrick), Andy Kolb (Leigh), Amy Luby (Jeremiah), and David Kolb; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Banholzer, St. Peters; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Mike Bone officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion United Church of Christ or the Union Senior Center.
