Sallie M. Wood-Weekly Obituary
Sallie Marie Wood-Weekley, nee Gilmer, 90, Warrenton, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Oak Pointe, Warrenton.

Sallie, a homemaker, was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Hadley, to Charles E. Gilmer and wife Irene, nee Carter. She married John Wood Jr. June 28, 1947, in St. Louis. They were married 48 years at the time of his death. On March 27, 2004, Sallie married Hermann Weekley. They were married eight years at the time of his death.

Sallie was baptized as a young girl at the Baptist Church in Redford. She was faithful in her church attendance all of her life until her health prevented it. Sallie's passion was singing, especially in the church choir and with the Melodeers singing group from Lakeview Estates in Warrenton. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Warrenton.

Sallie is survived by one son, Ronald L. (Katherine) Wood, Florissant; four daughters, Patricia A. Long, Warrenton, Kathryn L. (Kevin) McNatt, Hazelwood, Karen R. (John) Carruth, Argyle, Texas, and Sandra M. (Maurice) Sachs, Foristell; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Edward (Reva) Gilmer, Ellington, and Floyd Elvis Gilmer, Hermitage; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wood Jr. and Hermann Weekley; parents, Charles and Irene Gilmer; one brother, Charles E. "Sonny" (Chestaline) Gilmer; three sisters, Martha E. (Floyd) Jones, Audrey M. (John Spradling and Jack Hays) Hays and Doris Imogene (Wendell) Pogue; sister-in-law, Sandra Gilmer; and son-in-law, Stephen A. Long.

Viewing will be Thursday, Aug. 9, at Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Funeral services will follow at noon, also at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville, beside her husband John.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Missouri Baptist Home for the Aged, located in Ironton.
