Stephen Earl Comer, 68, Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. |
Steve, son of Raymond Earl Comer and wife Mary Elizabeth, nee Niehuss, was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Washington.
Prior to his retirement, Steve worked for Southwestern Bell and AT&T for 27 years in Fort Worth and Dallas. He then went back to school to become a radiological technologist and embarked on his second career, working as a radiology technologist at the Dallas VA for five years.
Steve was an avid reader and collector of Texana. His home library was a great joy to him. Paleontology and genealogy were among his other interests. He spent many years digging for fossils and researching his family genealogy, completing the documentation his father had started. After retiring, he completed his certification as a Texas Master Gardner.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Earl Comer.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Mueller Comer, Fredericksburg, Texas; one daughter, Tracey Lynn Killgore and husband Rob, Flower Mound, Texas; one son, Jason Earl Comer and wife Kristin, Arlington, Texas; mother, Mary Elizabeth Comer, Arlington, Texas; one brother, Michael Raymond Comer, Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Mason Killgore, Reid Killgore, Caroline Comer and Camille Comer; many brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Flower Mound Funeral Home, Flower Mound, Texas.
