Van Keith Mittler, 66, Marthasville, passed away early Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. |
Van was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Washington, the son of Clarence W. Mittler and wife Vera L., nee McCarty.
He grew up in the Marthasville area and worked as a furniture refinisher for many years. Van also enjoyed working on cars. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a decorated Vietnam sailor.
Van was preceded in death by his father, Clarence "Pete" Mittler.
He is survived by his mother, Vera; sister, Beverly Wilkinson and husband Bob; two nieces, Mitzi Gribble and husband Kurt and Vonda Warren and husband Todd; one nephew, Roger Rekate and wife Theresa; one stepniece, Dana Davis and husband Ray; one uncle, Orie McCarty; many great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul's UCC in Marthasville.
A memorial service will follow at 12:30.
Burial will be private.
