Viola Sutton, 81, Union, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Washington.

Mrs. Sutton was born May 18, 1931, in Union, the daughter of the late Frank James Vanderpool and wife Catherine Mary, nee Platt.
She received her education in Union. She was united in marriage to James "Tex" Sutton April 18, 1953. The couple made their home in Union. Viola was employed by Brown Shoe Factory and Union Wood Heel Factory.
Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband, James, Nov. 28, 1988; one son, Dale Sutton, May 24, 1986; one brother, James Vanderpool; and one sister, Ruth Vanderpool, in infancy.
She is survived by two sons, John Sutton and wife Tracey, South Weber, Utah, and Jim Sutton and wife Angela, Robertsville; two daughters, Mary Miller and Betty Sutton, both of Union; 15 grandchildren, many great- and great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Allen and husband Doug, Union; one brother, William Vanderpool, Oklahoma state; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Vanderpool, Gerald; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with Deacon Harvey Dubbs officiating.
Burial followed in Midlawn Cemetery, Union.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sheltered Workshop, Washington, are preferred.
