1924 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Wilbert William Trentmann, 93, Washington, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, in Union.

Wilbert, son of the late Alex Trentmann and wife Rose, nee Sullentrup, was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Washington. Wilbert graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School. In October 1944, Wilbert was united in marriage to Miss Geraldine Dehn. They made their home in rural Washington, and 17 children were born to this marriage. He served his country in the U.S. Army, from June 9, 1944, to Feb. 8, 1946, receiving two Bronze Stars. Wilbert worked several years at St. John's Poultry Farm and retired after working at Chrysler Corporation from 1965 to 1986. Wilbert raised buffalo on his farm for 30+ years. Wilbert liked swans, duck hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a lifetime member of the Washington V.F.W. and Knights of Columbus.

Wilbert is survived by seven daughters, Judy Smith, Karen Sadler, Joyce Frietze and husband Joe, Brenda Trentmann, Gail Eckelkamp, all of Washington, Sandy Seamon and husband Mark, Berger, and Amy Korte and husband Steve, Washington; seven sons, Mark Trentmann and wife Charlene, Washington, Bill Trentmann, New Haven, Karl Trentmann and wife Linda, Washington, Alben Trentmann, Hermann, Eric Trentmann, St. Charles, Conrad Trentmann and wife Denice, Williamsburg, and Benjamin Trentmann, Washington; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 2016; set of triplet children, Caryl, Sheryl and Daryl Trentmann; daughter-in-law, Joyce Trentmann; sons-in-law, Richard Eckelkamp and Jack Smith; two grandsons, John Trentmann and Joseph Trentmann; one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Leavitt; his parents; and one sister, Edna Kleekamp.

A funeral service was held Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington with the Rev. Timothy Foy officiating.

Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
