Vernon W. Clark

1939 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
Vernon W. Clark Sr., 75, Pacific, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at St. Clare Health Center, Fenton.

Vernon, son of Woodrow Clark and wife Viola, nee West, was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Pacific. He was united in marriage to Norma Pursley Sept. 8, 1962, in Pacific. He graduated from Pacific High School in 1957, where he loved and excelled in sports and outdoor activities. After high school, Vernon served his country in the U.S. Army. He continued his love for sports and his family throughout life by coaching all five of his children's sports teams. Vernon was president of the Khoury League, and was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge 534, V.F.W. and the Pacific Eagles Aerie 3842. He retired from Local 513, Operating Engineers, with over 50 years of service.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Viola Clark; one sister, Joan Ritchey; and one grandson, Michael Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Clark, Pacific; five children, Linda Motzel and husband Tom, Villa Ridge, Cindy Spear and husband Craig, Cedar Hill, Butch Clark, Jeff Clark, both of Pacific, and Joel Clark and wife Melissa, Navarre, Fla.; one brother, Wayne Clark and wife Eileen, Pacific; two brothers-in-law, Bob Ritchey, Pacific, and Allen Pursley, St. Clair; two sisters-in-law, Faye Bynum, St. Louis, and Gina Peters, Union; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial for Vernon was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Pacific Eagles, Large Hall, Pacific.
