Lucille, daughter of the late Henry Herbst and wife Catherine, nee Hellmann, was born June 18, 1927, in Villa Ridge. She was united in marriage to Clarence G. Ballmann Feb. 12, 1947, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Dutzow. She and Clarence worked together at Langenberg Hat Company until they retired in 1990. She was a lifelong parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, an avid quilter and a volunteer for the Marthasville Ambulance District. She loved spending time with her family, and dearly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence G. Ballmann; parents, Henry and Catherine Herbst; two sisters, Teckla Kleinheider and Irene Willenbrink; and one brother, Andrew Herbst.
She is survived by three children, Tony Ballmann and wife Chris, Augusta, Larry Ballmann and wife Helen, and Lorri Sickmann and husband Gordon, all of Marthasville; nine grandchildren, Katie Nowak and husband Nathan, Amy Sullentrup and husband Dan, Jon Ballmann and wife Julie, Jennifer Schroer and husband Carl, Jessica Stern and husband Eric, Jodi Sheets and husband Dan, Sarah Sickmann, Jill Schmelz and husband Jason, and Carrie Sickmann and fiance Tracy Grote; 10 great-grandchildren, Clara Nowak, Evelyn Nowak, Sophia Sullentrup, Louis Sullentrup, Andrew Sullentrup, Kaylee Stern, Kenzie Stern, Owen Schroer, Collin Schmelz and Cole Schmelz; one sister-in-law, Jane Herbst, Washington; one brother-in-law, Glen Hellebusch, Warrenton; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Dutzow.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Masses may be said or memorials given to St. Vincent de Paul Grade School, St. Vincent de Paul Church Endowment Fund or the Marthasville Volunteer Fire Department.
The Ballmann family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
