John J. Elbert, 86, Krakow, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Washington. |
John, son of the late John P. Elbert and wife Mary, nee Schlitt, was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Krakow. He was united in marriage to Verona Hoelscher Oct. 25, 1958, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Krakow. John was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Western Catholic Union and the Holy Name Society.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Mary Elbert; and one sister, Hermina Diener.
John is survived by his wife, Verona Elbert, Krakow; three sons, David Elbert and wife Suson, Michael Elbert, all of Union, and Robert Elbert, Washington; two brothers, Clarence Elbert and Ralph Elbert, both of Washington; one sister, Rose Marquart, Washington; one sister-in-law, Thecla Sieve, Washington; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
A fourth-degree Knights of Columbus and parish rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Krakow.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
