Leona J. Huxel, nee Baumann, 80, Washington, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, in New Haven. |
Leona, daughter of the late Martin Baumann and wife Alma, nee Sprick, was born April 18, 1933, in New Haven. She received her education from Ebenezer Lutheran Grade School. She was united in marriage to Raymond Huxel July 27, 1963, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She worked for Deb Shoe as a finishing stitcher.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Alma Baumann; and two brothers-in-law, David Huxel and Motts Buhr.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Huxel, Washington; two sons, Steven Huxel and wife Annette, Union, and Keith Huxel, New Haven, and his girlfriend, Tammie Heckenkamp, Chesterfield; one brother, Wilbert Baumann, New Haven; six brothers- and sisters-in-law, Emil Huxel and wife Ruth, Union, Doris Buhr, Robert Huxel and wife Mary Jane, Mike Konys and wife Darlene, all of Washington, Marcella Huxel, Hermann, and Mary Hellmann and husband James, Villa Ridge; three grandchildren, Lanna Huxel, Anissa Huxel and Levi Huxel; other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service was held Monday, March 10, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson, with the Rev. William Zastrow officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
The Huxel family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
