Ronnie L. Hawkins

1956 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
Ronnie Lee Hawkins, known to many as Hawkeye, 57, St. Clair, departed this life Sunday, April 20, 2014, in St. Clair.

Ronnie, son of Jesse James Hawkins, known to many as Babe, and Betty Jean Hawkins, nee Sohn, was born Sept. 18, 1956, in Washington. As a young man, he was united in marriage and blessed to have two sons.

Ronnie was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith as a child. During his working career, he was employed as a tree trimmer by various tree trimming companies, most notably Shade Tree Company. He was a proud member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2, St. Louis. Ronnie had a variety of interests throughout his life, including working on old cars and trucks. He also had a passion for guns, and loved to go and compete in shooting matches. What meant most to him was time spent with his family and friends. His sons held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. The many wonderful memories they created will live forever in their hearts.

Ronnie is survived by two sons, Harry Hawkins and Devin Hawkins, both of St. Clair; father, Jesse "Babe" Hawkins, St. Clair; best friend, Eddie Brown, St. Clair; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Hawkins.

Visitation was held at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, Wednesday, April 23, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A private committal will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the charity of donor's choice.

The Hawkins family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
