1943 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Charles Leon Shafferkoetter, known to all as Chuck, 70, Union, departed this life Thursday, April 24, 2014, in Union. Chuck, son of the late Guy Rudolph Shafferkoetter Sr. and wife Pearl Olivia, nee Lalk, was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Union.

Chuck was a Christian, being raised in the Baptist faith as a child. He enjoyed the visits to the nursing home by the minister of First Baptist Church, Union. During his working career, he was employed as a presser/laborer by Brown Shoe Company and Wood Heel Shoe Company, later known as Carmo Shoe Company, both in Union. Chuck had a variety of interests throughout his life. As a young man, he loved to go fishing, hunting and frog gigging. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, watching old Western movies on television and collecting various electronic devices. Although he had no children of his own, he was very close to his family, especially his brother. He loved his nieces and nephews as his own. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live forever in their hearts.

Chuck is survived by two sisters, Sondra Kluba and husband Glennon, Leslie, and Amber Rose Weekes and husband Buddy, Union; special niece, Terry Derr and husband Jerry, Union; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Sr. and Pearl Shafferkoetter; and one brother, Guy Rudolph Shafferkoetter Jr.

A celebration of life was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Sunset Health Care Center, Union.

A private committal will take place at a later date at Union City Cemetery, Union.

Memorials may be given to Sunset Health Care Center, Union.

The family of Charles Leon Shafferkoetter entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
