L. Earl Byers, 86, De Soto, entered into rest Thursday, May 22, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.|
Earl, son of the late Arch B. Byers and wife Delia M., nee Rowland, was born March 25, 1928, in St. Louis.
Earl was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was a sales supervisor for Neumayer Equipment Company until he retired. He served the Knights of Columbus 1185 at many levels, including fourth-degree, grand knight, to district deputy of District 43. He also served the Cardinal Glennon Assembly 567 as fourth-degree pilot, and elected captain to faithful navigator. Earl also was elected delegate of Missouri for the Resolutions Committee of the Supreme Council, member of the Electrical Union 1 and Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of U.S. and Canada 35.
Earl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose A. Byers, nee Whitter; two sons, Dan (Mary) Byers, and Barry (Cheryl) Byers; three daughters, Rose Ann (Lindell) Cole, Beverly (Joe) Seyfarth, and Christy (Chris) Amsden; two brothers, Don Byers and Bryon Byers; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Mahn Funeral Home, De Soto.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, De Soto, with the Rev. Alex Anderson officiating.
Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family is being served by Mahn Funeral Home, De Soto.
