Sara Craig, nee Esslinger, 75, Marthasville, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. |
Sara, daughter of the late Joseph Esslinger and wife Sophia, nee Blaisdell, was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Washington. She was united in marriage to Monroe Henry Craig March 19, 1971. Sara worked as an attendant at Emmaus Homes. She was a member of Charrette Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing puzzle books, reading and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sara is survived by two children, Sandra Alexander and husband Greg, and Joseph Becker and wife Peggy; five stepchildren, Eugene Craig and wife Helen, Marilyn Cole and husband Tom, Gary Craig and wife Kathy, Nancy Bales and husband Mark, and Eddie Craig and wife Lora; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy, Josephine and Veronica; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Craig; one daughter, Sharon Pope; one son, Edgar Becker; one stepson, Donnie; loving parents, Joseph and Sophia Esslinger; five brothers; and one sister.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville.
A funeral service followed, beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial was at St Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Marthasville.
