Betty J. Ranney, 85, Washington, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at her home. |
Betty was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Peoria, Ill. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Ranney Aug. 21, 1949. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1998.
Betty was a member of First Christian Church, Pekin, Ill., Morton Christian Church, Morton, Ill., and St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Washington., and was an active volunteer in all.
Betty loved to play golf, bridge, cross-stitch, and solve crossword puzzles. She was passionate about her landscape, and was the envy of her neighborhood for the immaculate condition of her lawn and the beautiful flowerbeds she maintained. All who knew Betty loved her sense of humor and generous spirit.
Betty is survived by two children, Robert (Ellen) Ranney, Washington, and Gail (Mike) Bresnahan, Valley City, N.D.; one brother, Fritz (Joanne) Oltman; three grandchildren, Leah (Loren) Jones, St. Paul, Minn., Tristan (Scott) Henry, Charleston, S.C., and Patrick Bresnahan, Fargo, N.D.; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Nolan and Emilia, Charleston, S.C.; two nieces, Jan (Harry) Willmert, and Joy Oltman; three nephews, Tom (Kim) Oltman, Brad (Jody) Oltman, and Mike Oltman; a number of great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 12, at Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, Betty requested that memorials be given to donor's favorite charity.
