Donald R. Sands Obituary
Donald R. Sands, 74, St. Clair, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at his home.

Donald, son of the late Lawrence Sands and wife Alice, nee Minzes, was born Aug. 7, 1939, at Boles Township. Donald was very active in conservation, being a former member of the Franklin County Wildlife Club, and former member of the Missouri Trap Shooters Association. He also was a former member of the Ozark Road Runners and former member of the American Pool Players Association. Donald worked at Droege's Supermarket as a meat cutter and Droege's Wholesale as a salesman. As a meat cutter, he became a member of Local 88. From 1978 to 1989, he owned and operated D. Sands Restaurant, Labadie, and most recently was the owner of Theo's Colonial Bar LLC, Union.

Donald is survived by two daughters, Cherie Coleman and husband Kevin, Farmersville, Ill., and Joyce Schnarr and husband Daniel, Sullivan; one sister, Shirley Brinkmann and husband Robert, Labadie; three grandchildren, Jason Mauntel and wife Brande, New Haven, Brandon Meyer, St. Albans, and Katie Helland and husband Marshall, Catawissa; one great-granddaughter, Kyra Mauntel; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Alice Sands; Theo Burger.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, July 18, at Midlawn Funeral Home, Union.

A memorial service will follow, beginning at noon, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Ison officiating.

Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice, Washington.
