Donald Ray "Donnie" Schomberg Sr., 61, Marthasville, passed away suddenly Monday, July 28, 2014, while farming.

Donnie was born Dec. 8, 1952, to Wilfred Schomberg and wife Ruth, nee Rottmann, in Washington. He was united in marriage to Lesa Faye Schaper June 7, 1985.

Donnie served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard. He retired after 35-plus years as a skilled carpenter by trade. Donnie was a proud member of the Local 3202 and 32 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, where he was the president of Local 3202 and served as a delegate to the St. Louis District Council for 21 years. He was the president of the Immanuels United Church of Christ Church Board from 1988 to 1989. Donnie was a frequent volunteer for the Warren County Historical Society and History Museum. He loved wood- working and farming. Donnie was a great father, husband and grandfather. He loved all of his grandchildren very much.

Donnie was preceded in death by his dear parents, Wilfred and Ruth Schomberg; father-in-law, Leerie Schaper; and one brother-in-law, Wally Lage.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lesa Schomberg; two sons, Donnie Ray Schomberg Jr. and Johnathan Schomberg; two daughters, Erin Reese and husband Kevin, and Jessica Schanuel and husband Greg; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Emma, Madisyn, Brendan, Hailey, Colton and Avery; two brothers, David Schomberg and wife MaryRuth, and Dwayne Schomberg and wife Caren; two sisters, Denise Clemens and husband Kevin, and Doris Ann Lage; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 1, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at Immanuels United Church of Christ, Holstein, with the Rev. Darryl Bockting officiating.

Burial followed at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Brendan Schanuel, Kyle Reese, Donnie Ray Schomberg Jr., Johnathan Schomberg, Chris Schaper and David Schomberg.

Memorial donations may be given to The American Ranch Horse Association Youth Scholarship Fund or to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in memory of Donnie.
