Gladys Ottilie Bolte, nee Dierking, 93, Beaufort, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in Washington. |
Gladys, daughter of the late Edwin Dierking and wife Wilhelmina, nee Borgmann, was born April 23, 1921, in Beaufort. Gladys was united in marriage to Alfred Bolte Feb. 19, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington. The couple made their home in Beaufort, and 10 children were born to this marriage. Gladys was a homemaker, and welcomed many children into her home when they needed someplace to stay during the day. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Beaufort. Gladys was an active member of the church, and was involved with Ladies Aid, and served a term as president. She also enjoyed quilting. She was happiest in her home with her family and grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by four sons, Gary Bolte and wife Brenda, Union, Glenn Bolte, Galen Bolte, and Greg Bolte and wife Amy, all of Beaufort; five daughters, Bonnie Bolte, Linda Pohlmann and husband Dale, Janice Pohlmann and husband Glen, Ellen Bolte, all of Beaufort, and Carol Mangrum and husband Steve, Eureka; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Calkins and husband Clarence, Beaufort, and Elsie Gerlemann and husband Eugene, New Haven; two sisters-in-law, Velma Dierking, Leslie, and Marie Bolte, St. Louis; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Bolte, May 31, 2011; one daughter, Marta, November 2001; parents, Edwin and Wilhelmina Dierking; five brothers, Driver Dierking, Bud Dierking, Babe Dierking, Dick Dierking and Walter Dierking; and one sister, Esther Brandt.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. Tim Brown officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Beaufort.
The Bolte family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
