Dale Lynn Gibson, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, after a short illness. |
Dale, son of the late Lynn Gibson and wife Freda, was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Jenks, Okla. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Dale was united in marriage to Sally J. Durkee Oct. 13, 1987. He was in the education field for 42 years. Dale served as president of three community colleges, and retired as president of East Central College, Union. He also worked internationally in the country of Jordan, where he helped establish a new college campus.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sally Gibson, Washington; three sons, Scott Gibson and wife Linda, Mustang, Okla., Mark Gibson and wife Kelly, McKinney, Texas, and Lynn Gibson, Irving, Texas; two daughters, Paige Rivard and husband Matt, Omaha, Neb., and Sondra May and husband Mitch, Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Brittany Gibson, Nickolas Gibson, Jeffrey Gibson, Katelyn Gibson, Liam Gibson, Keeley Walker and husband Justin, Brandt Gibson, Zachery Gibson, Jordan Rivard, Jacob Rivard, Collin May and Avery May; one great-grandson, Kade Walker; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Freda Gibson; and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Peace Lutheran Church, Washington.
