Monica Louis Murray, nee Klekamp, 66, Union, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Washington. |
Monica, daughter of Waldo Klekamp and wife Virginia, nee Schwartz, was born Feb. 26, 1948, in Boonville. She graduated from Boonville High School, and received a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. Monica was united in marriage to Mr. Walter Murray Jr. Aug. 5, 1972, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lone Elm. She taught at Labadie Elementary School, Labadie, for three years. She then taught kindergarten at Immanuel Lutheran School, Washington, for 20 years. Monica was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington, and P.E.O.
Monica is survived by her husband, Walter A. Murray Jr., Union; two sons, W. Allan Murray III, Union, and Andrew Murray, Kansas City; one daughter, Laura Walker and husband David, Washington; father, Waldo Klekamp, Boonville; three sisters, Deb Bennett and husband Dale, Benton, La., Yvonne Gabelsberger and husband Tom, Fenton, and Denis Klekamp, Boonville; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Klekamp.
A memorial service was held at noon Saturday, Aug. 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington, with Pastor Mark Bangert officiating.
A private burial was in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran School, Washington.
The Murray family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
