Edward John Allen, 80, Union, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in Owensville. |
He was born April 2, 1932, at his home in Union, the son of the late George Mike Allen and wife Helen, nee Hartzke.
Ed graduated from Union High School. After graduation, he worked as a local carpenter until entering the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Upon leaving the Army, Ed went to work at General Motors, St. Louis, where he retired after 30 years.
On April 8, 1961, Ed married Claire Kruezer at St. John's Methodist Church, St. Louis. She preceded him in death Oct. 21, 1971.
On April 30, 1977, he was united in marriage to Lunette Hanneke Kuenzel at St. John the Baptist Church, Villa Ridge. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Lunette, May 21, 1999.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Union, as well as the church choir.
Ed was preceded in death by his first and second wives; parents; and stepson, Kenneth Kuenzel.
He is survived by four step- daughters, Diane Schroeder and husband Ralph, Union, Sharon Scott and husband Bruce, Joan Scott and husband Terry, all of Villa Ridge, and Beverly Evert and husband James, Washington; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Allen and wife Mary, McAllen, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Delma Holdmeyer and husband Tony, Union, and Verna Vondera and husband Clarence, Villa Ridge; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 8, at First United Methodist Church, Union.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Villa Ridge.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Union building fund are preferred.
