Minnie Oma Means, nee Nelson, 99, Union, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Washington. |
Minnie, the daughter of the late Elsworth Nelson and wife Lucy Ann, nee Bade, was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Vienna, Mo. She was united in marriage to Ira Means in 1930. They made their home in Union.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Means, on June 1, 1988; one son, Dorsey Means, on Aug. 27, 1997; and four siblings, Avery Nelson, Theron Nelson, Catherine, Crider and Jewel Gerling.
Minnie is survived by one son, Donald Means and wife Norma, Washington; one daughter, Alberta Hitchings, Ballwin; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Means, Murphysboro, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Mark Bangert officiating. Burial was in Midlawn Cemetery, Union.
Memorials are preferred to the Franklin County Senior Center or the Macular Degeneration Association.
