Rusty (LaVerne) Catherine Borgerding, 87, Dutzow, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home. |
She was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Washington, the daughter of Lawrence Eckelkamp and wife Caroline, nee Ballmann.
Rusty attended St. Francis Borgia Grade School. One of her early jobs in life involved working at the International Shoe Factory, and she also got to be a shoe model at KDK.
On July 17, 1946, she married the love of her life, Joseph Victor Borgerding from Dutzow. They first lived in St. Louis where Joe worked as a mechanic and Rusty worked at raising three children, Bob, Terry and Pam. She dedicated her time to filling the house with love. After a few years, Joe and Rusty moved to Ballwin. As a young mother she enjoyed the pastimes of square dancing, bowling and sewing. Later in life Rusty joined the Ladies Sodality and the golf league. She and Joe moved to Dutzow in 1973. She loved to travel, garden and crochet.
Rusty is survived by her husband, Joe Borgerding, Dutzow; three children, Bob Borgerding and wife Paulette, nee O'Daniel, Father Terry Borgerding and Pam Rodriguez and husband Reymundo; one brother, Lester Eckelkamp (Nicey); two sisters, Ruthie Sullentrup (Bill) and Mickey Holtmeier (Smiley); four grandchildren, John Borgerding (Roxanne), Crista Gabrunas (Richard), Percy Rodriguez (Hollis) and Cecilia Rodriguez; six great-grandchildren, Dani, Will, Anna and Ginny Borgerding and Jerry and Bobby Carty; and step-great-grandson, Nathan Gabrunas.
She was preceded to heaven by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Bert Eckelkamp; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Ray Jasper and Marge and Sal Jasper.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 11, at St. Vincent Church, Dutzow.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials can be given to St. Vincent's Parish, Dutzow, or Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.
The family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
