Billy Dean Smith, 85, Warrenton, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis.|
He was born to William Andy Smith and wife Emily Bell, nee Hartwick, Dec. 30, 1927, in Greenway, Ark.
Billy was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Stapleton. They celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage.
He was a supervisor for Binkley Company, Warrenton, for 20 years. Billy also was a supervisor at First Capital, St. Charles, for 20 years. He worked at Wright Paper, Warrenton, for a few years as well. Billy was a former police officer for the city of St. Charles. He also was an auxiliary police officer for Wright City.
Billy loved to go fishing whenever he could. He enjoyed working with wood and gardening. Billy loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Smith; four children, Carolyn A. Palitzsh and husband John, Michael D. Smith and wife Peggy, Sharon Smith, all of Warrenton, and Mary E. Ham and husband Bob, Winfield; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Rowlett, St. Ann; many other relatives and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Emily Smith; one brother; and one sister.
A visitation was held Monday, April 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 30, at the funeral home, with burial following at Wright City Cemetery.
