Caroline A. Steffen, nee Fresenburg, 90, New Haven, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at The Arbors at South Pointe, Washington.|
Caroline, daughter of the late Clemens Fresenburg and wife Elizabeth, nee Knopfel, was born July 25, 1923, in St. Louis. She was united in marriage to Anthony George Steffen May 29, 1948.
Caroline was a member of Assumption Church, New Haven. She previously worked for Southwestern Bell and at her brother's bakery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemens and Elizabeth Fresenburg; and one brother, Francis Fresenburg.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Anthony George Steffen, Washington; one daughter, Lois Orr and husband Bill, New Haven; one son, Glen Steffen and wife Jane, Washington; two sisters, Elizabeth Meyer, St. Louis, and Dorothy Steffen, Springfield, Ill.; one granddaughter, Julie Banderman and husband Kyle, Union; one grandson, Kyle Steffen, St. Louis; and two great- grandchildren, Naia and Anela.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Assumption Catholic Church, New Haven, with Father John Deken officiating.
Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
