Billy Leroy Twiehaus, 82, Wright City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital West.|
He was born Aug. 28, 1931, the son of the late William Twiehaus and wife Anna, nee Westlin.
Billy was united in marriage to his wife, Opal, Dec. 29, 1956, at the Methodist parsonage, Wright City. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. During Billy's working years, he was employed in union labor.
Billy was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Wright City, Wentzville American Legion Post 323, Avenue of the Flags and Union Local 600. He was a former volunteer firefighter, and served on the town board of Wright City and as a park board member. Billy loved to go dancing and happy hour. He adored and loved his grandchildren very much.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Opal Mae Twiehaus, Wright City; two daughters, Kimberly Kay (Mike) Turner and Sherry Lynn Walker, all of Wright City; one brother, Bernard (Mary) Twiehaus, Warrenton; one sister, Donna Coonis, Jonesburg; two grandchildren, Jared Walker and Amanda Turner; nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Twiehaus; one sister, Helen Moore; one niece, Candy Wright; and one nephew, Richard Coonis.
Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 22, from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.
A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Wright City.
Interment followed in Wright City Cemetery.
