Billie Jean Bowen, nee Baker, 78, Gerald, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at New Haven Care Center.|
Billie, daughter of the late George T. Baker and wife Gella A., nee Evans, was born Jan. 26, 1935, in St. Louis. She was united in marriage to Michael J. Bowen March 2, 1974, at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Hillsboro.
Billie was a hair stylist. She enjoyed going to yard sales, doing seek-and-find puzzles, gardening, her rose garden and collecting bears.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Gella A. Baker; one brother, Thomas Baker; and one sister, Frances Baker Ard.
She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Bowen, Gerald; four sons, Robert Shackelford, Lake Ozark, Eugene Shackelford, Union, James Shackelford, St. Louis, and Gary Shackelford, Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers Edward Baker, Pevely, and Rodney Baker and wife Barbara, Festus; one sister, Jessie Whitiner, Pevely; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
A funeral service followed, beginning at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery, St. Louis.
Memorials may be given to New Haven Care Center, in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
The Bowen family was served by Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
