Naomi Pounds Obituary

Naomi L. Pounds, nee Schulte, 96, a lifelong citizen of Washington, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.

Naomi, daughter of the late Oscar Schulte and wife Emma, nee Kappelmann, was born July 25, 1920, in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School. She was united in marriage to James E. Pounds May 14, 1949, in St. Louis. Naomi loved to swim, walk, cook, and was a great mother and grandmother to her family.

Among her survivors are her son, James G. Pounds and wife Julia P. McCarthy-Pounds, Chevy Chase, Md.; her daughter, Jean F. Kasl and husband David, Washington; grandchildren, Benjamin G. Pounds, Julia "Adair" Pounds, Julie Kasl-Wood and husband Cliff, Amanda Kasl-Burke and husband Ryan, and their children Logan and Charlie, and Megan Kasl-Hubbard and husband Will, and their children Harper and Walker; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Pounds; her parents; one brother, Russell Schulte; and one sister, Ruth Schulte.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 14, at Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Earlwood Towne officiating.

Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Washington.

Memorials may be given to the Washington Historical Society.

Arrangements were in care of Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
