Jerome H. Alferman

1943 - 2017

Jerome "Jerry"^ H. Alferman, 73, Washington, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington.

Jerry, son of the late Herbert Alferman Sr. and wife Hilda, nee Kleekamp, was born Aug. 15, 1943, in Washington. He was united in marriage to Fritzie Gross Nov. 23, 1963, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Jerry appreciated a wide variety of different items, and was a collector of all those things that he found interesting or valuable. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Seisl Council 1121, Hummingbird Club, Washington Volunteer Fire Company, and Easter Monday Fish Club. Always ready to help others, he also volunteered with the Pregnancy Assistance Center and was a St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church usher for many years.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Fritzie; five children, Kevin Alferman, Mexico, Mo., Tracy Alferman and wife Tina, Brian Alferman, Stephanie Sickmeier and husband CJ, all of Washington, and Jimmy Alferman and wife Katie, Highland, Ill.; 54 foster children; eight siblings, Herb Alferman and wife Donna, Diane Meyer and husband Floyd, Carolee Gildehaus and husband Harold, Mary Lou Epple and husband Tom, Roselyn Heidman and husband James, Tom Alferman and wife Debbie, Rick Alferman and wife Donna, and Robin Monzyk and husband Mark; three siblings-in-law, Richard Altemueller, Mike Gross and Agnes "Jeanie" Buscher^ and husband Mike; 10 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings-inlaw, Marlene Altemueller and Carol Gross.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 28, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.

Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Pregnancy Assistance Center or St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.
