Elmer Phinney

Elmer Phinney was born in a small town in Pennsylvania along Bownman's Creek to parents George Phinney and Charlotte Best Phinney. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1938 and started building houses.

He married for the second time in April of 1964 to Cora Cornell Barras and moved to Estes Park in 1970. After managing the National Park Resort, he worked for Kendall Construction doing what he loved – building houses. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing and camping.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Francis and Russell, wife; Cora, and stepchildren Rick Barras and Patrician Barras Lee. He will be missed by sons Brent (wife Georgia), Steve (wife Johnene), daughter; Barbara Day (husband Warren), stepdaughter; Margaret Barras, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service and his ashes will be interred next to his beloved wife Cora, at the Estes Valley Memorial Gardens.
