Jeannette Munkres of Estes Park died at Prospect Park Living Center early Thursday May 9, 2013; she was 82 years old.
Born December 18, 1930 in Richwood, OH, her parents were Alvin and Ruthella (Jerew) Field. She graduated from Richwood High School in 1948, received her Bachelor's Degree from Bowling Green State University in 1952 and her Master's Degree from Ohio University in 1960. She was a secretary at Ohio Wesleyan University and worked in Student Personnel as a Residence Hall Director at Muskingum College, now Muskingum University.
On June 15, 1962 Jeannette married Robert Munkres in Zanesville, OH. In 2004 the couple moved to Estes Park, CO from New Concord, OH. She enjoyed reading, gardening, handcrafts and traveling. She knitted sweaters for Guideposts Knit For Kids, was a volunteer at the Estes Park Museum and enjoyed Bridge and was a Sudoko fan. Jeannette is survived by her husband Bob of Estes Park, a cousin Phil VanBuskirk and his wife Linda and numerous friends, both in Ohio and Estes Park. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jean Annette Field. A memorial gathering will celebrate Jeannette's life on Wednesday May 22 at 3:00 PM at Good Samaritan Village 1901 Ptarmigan Trail. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to the American Indian College Fund in Denver or to St. Augustine's Center for American Indians in Chicago in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517.
