John Hoffmann(1922 - 2013)

Long time Estes Park resident John Hoffmann died at Good Samaritan Village Friday August 2, 2013. He was 91 years old. John Hermann Hoffmann was born April 17, 1922 in Striegau, Germany. His parents were Hermann and Pauline Hoffmann.
He came to the United States when he was 5 years old. He married his high school sweetheart, Annie Sargent on October 23, 1943 at Wesleyan Methodist Church in Detroit, MI. The couple resided in Redford Township, MI while John worked in Michigan as an automotive engine designer. He worked for Cadillac Motors for 37 years in charge of the Engine Design Group. Having been a good player himself, he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball in the Detroit area. The couple enjoyed traveling all over the country and were able to see all 50 states except Hawaii.
One of John's favorite places was Alaska, where they traveled before it even became a state. He especially liked to visit with the Eskimos there. In 1980, he retired and Annie and he moved to Estes Park where they enjoyed hiking, walking, and snow shoeing. He had reached the summit of Longs Peak and had visited many other National Parks around the country. He was a member of The Over The Hill Gang and Trailmasters hiking clubs.
John is survived by his wife Annie of Estes Park, a daughter Jeanne Keyes of Houston, TX ; granddaughter Kristi Richter and her husband Clayton and great grandchildren Chase, Grant and Madison of Cypress, TX. John loved his family very much. They meant everything to him.
