Mary Donna Yearsley passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2013 at her home in Estes Park, Colorado after a valiant struggle with cancer. Her daughter Nancy was by her side. This meant the world to Mary Donna, for not only were they mother and daughter, they were also the best of friends.
She had moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Estes Park in November 2012 to spend more time with her daughter. Born on a farm in Syracuse, NE on March 7, 1928 to Oscar and Freda Granneman, Mary Donna graduated from Syracuse High School and married Earl Yearsley in 1946. She went on to receive a Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska, enjoyed a career in education for over 35 years, and was a teacher beloved and respected by many. Mary Donna is survived by her only child, Nancy Yearsley of Estes Park, CO, one nephew, three nieces and many dear friends. In keeping with her passion for education, Mary Donna made the decision to donate her body for research to the University of Colorado Medical Center.
A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday January 5, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Good Samaritan Village in Estes Park. Since Mary Donna left so many wonderful friends in Nebraska, another Celebration of Life will be held in Omaha at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Hospice of the Estes Valley in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Ave. Estes Park, CO 80517.
