Robert C. Boliere(1919 - 2014)

Robert C. Boliere was called to his eternal reward in heaven on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the age of 94.
Bob was born on November 27, 1919 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Nellis and Edna (Utter) Bolier. He was raised from the age of 3 by his grandparents, Andrew and Alice Utter, and upon their deaths at the age of 9 by their housekeeper, Gertrude Leslie. He enlisted in the US Horse Cavalry at the age of 18, and served three years when he then met and married Marjorie Louise Winkel on November 7, 1941.
Upon hearing about Pearl Harbor, Bob immediately joined the US Navy and served during WWII. After leaving the Navy, Bob lived in Farmington, Michigan, worked at Michigan Bell Telephone, and retired from there after 31 years. Bob, Marge, and their youngest daughter, Jamie, then lived in Estes Park in Colorado, Ft. Myers Beach, Port Charlotte, and eventually settled in Englewood, Florida.
Bob was always very active in church and community, serving as a church elder, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, and volunteer policeman. Throughout his retirement years Bob pursued his lifelong interests in golfing, sailing, painting, and writing poetry.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of seventy years: Marjorie; three children; Janet (Jack) Moynihan of Englewood, FL; Douglas (Elaine) Boliere of Auburn, CA; and Jamie Boliere of Englewood FL; three grandchildren; Patrick (Wendy) Moynihan, Robert Moynihan, and Robin (Dennis) Sheehan, and three great-grandchildren; Danny, April, and Spencer Moynihan. Bob is also survived by his three sisters-in-law; Irene Layer, Arlene Winkel, and Florence Robinson.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; Nellis & Edna Bolier, sister: Maxine Shoemaker, and brothers-in-law: Ernie, Norman, and Ken Winkel.
A memorial service will be held for Bob on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where Bob, Marge and Jamie were devoted members. The church is located at 6465 Mayport Street, Englewood. Pastor Kress will be officiating.
