1926 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
Ron Brown, 87, of Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Estes Park died on August 13 at Sunrise at Pinehurst Senior Living. Ronald H. Brown and his twin brother Donald were born on November 26, 1925 in Champaign, IL. He grew up nearby in the small farming town of Sadorus and graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. On August 15, 1948 he married Margaret Nicholson in Urbana, IL. Ron was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 100th Infantry Division of the U.S. 7th Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star citation for action in Bitchy, France, and a Presidential Citation for action against the German SS in Heilbronn, Germany.
Ron was employed by Shell Oil Company for approximately 40 years, traveling to many parts of the United States, Canada and Saudi Arabia. He held professional memberships in the National Petroleum Refiners Association and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Ron retired in Houston, Texas, in 1988 and moved to Estes Park, Colorado until 2009 when he moved to the Wind Crest Retirement Community in Highlands Ranch, CO. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Littleton, CO and attended Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies in Estes Park where he was also an active member of the Summer Residents Association and the KBB. Ron is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Paul Brown and Gary Brown, daughters-in-law Susan and Patsy Brown of Highlands Ranch, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Edna Brown, brother Donald, and his daughter, Barbara Carol Brown.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated in the memory of Ronald H.
