Clanton Ray Athey IV "C.R." of Estes Park, died August 7, 2014 near Estes Park from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.|
C.R. was born on May 29, 1984 to Ray and Judy (Stewart) Athey in Longmont. He graduated from Skyline High School where he lettered in tennis, wrestling and swimming. He attended Ft. Lewis College, where he honed his fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking and golf skills.
He married Liz Morgan on June 25, 2010 at Ellis Ranch outside of Loveland.
C.R. loved adventure and the great outdoors. He enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling (in his Toyota), fishing, hiking and golf. This also would lead him to his career choice, where he accomplished much in a very short time. He worked for Ward's Lawn Services, reaching the position of their commercial property manager. Always wanting to live in the mountains he took a position with Estes Valley Park District. This provided him many challenges, especially this past year working around the flood devastation. He was the current Park and Trail Manager for the EVRPD. He brought much joy to his fellow workmates and crews with his humor and being a fair and decent boss. His green thumb provided endless hours of enjoyment in his and his parent's yards, designing and building wonderful gardens and landscaping. Mechanically inclined, he could fix anything from automobiles to any equipment at work or play.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents Dr. Clanton and Jean Athey and Harold and Bernadine Stewart; and his special Aunt Sherry Bauer and Liz's stepmother Margie Morgan.
Surviving are his wife Liz of Estes Park; parents Judy and Ray Athey of Longmont; sister Kendall Athey of Longmont; and pets Pulgas and Marley and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 15 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church with Pastor Dan Hansen officiating.
Contributions may be made in C.R.'s name to the Wells Fargo Bank, 1645 Pace St. Longmont, Colorado 80504.
