Don Kayser Obituary
Don Kayser left this life to be with the Lord on March 7, 2013 in Lakewood, Colorado.
Don Eldon Kayser was born in Holyoke, Colorado on July 7, 1928 to Albert and Marie "Rodeman" Kayser. His family later moved to Golden, where Don graduated from high school. Don married Jean Kannenberg of Denver on August 20, 1950. He was then called into service by the army and served in the Korean War. After returning from Korea Don worked for Coors delivering beer in the Denver area. Their daughter, Kay, was born in Denver and a few years later they purchased the Gambles Store in Wray, Colorado. After a few years in the hardware business they purchased the bowling alley in Wray with Don's parents. After moving back to Denver, Don worked for Sundstrand, Coors Porcelain Company, and later Coors Container.
Don always liked to spend time in the mountains, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, backpacking, and skiing. He was an avid fisherman and could pull a fish out of any stream. His love for the mountains drew he and Jean to Estes Park after retirement. Don enjoyed playing bridge and evenings of poker with neighbors. He was an active member in the Lutheran Church, most recently Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Estes Park. He and Jean enjoyed their four grandchildren, Ryan, Cale, Beth, and Jeff, who have many fond memories of their time with their grandparents. Jean preceded Don in passing and he is survived by his daughter Kay Requist, her husband Niall, four grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Clifford and Elaine Grasmick, as well as nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Estes Park. Graveside service will be at 3:00 Tuesday, March 12 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO. Memorial contributions can be made to Denver Hospice or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Ave, Estes Park, CO 80517.
