Dorothy "Dorry" Ann Bush, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her four children October 30, 2016 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was a long-time resident of Estes Park with her beloved husband Hal, who passed away in 2011. She moved to Idaho in 2015 to be close to family. Her energy, smile, indomitable spirit, and friendship, her compassion and generosity, her love of Estes Park residents and Rocky Mountain National Park, is greatly missed. Dorry was born December 3, 1937 in Marquette, Michigan to Ernest and Dorothy Brewer and raised in Detroit. She married Hal on September 1, 1956. She and Hal traveled to all 50 states in the U.S. with their family while their children were young. The family resided in Algonac, Michigan until 1975 when they moved to Estes Park where they were local shop owners of the Estes Park Laundromat, The Sport Shop and Cookies & Munchies. She worked for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. James Durward and helped manage the annual Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival. In respect for her many years of service to the festival, she was invested as a Dame of the Imperial Constantinian Military Order of Saint George, dedicated to maintaining the values of chivalry through family, fellowship, education and community service. She loved working with her festival friends. After retirement, Dorry and Hal enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the U.S., camping and spending time with their family. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees as Hal had retired from the Bureau of Reclamation.
