Gus Wolf, longtime Estes Park area summer resident and year-round resident since 2013, passed away on October 18, 2016, at the age of 84. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Gus spent his lifelong professional career in the property and casualty insurance industry. He served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Omaha, and was Vice-President of the Grace-Mayer Insurance Agency in Omaha. Gus was an ardent wood carver, specializing in the carving of birds and human figures. He did extensive commission work, including his annual Santas. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, active in the church's Sumtimers Organization. He was also active in the Summer Residents Association of Estes Park for many years. Gus and his wife of 58 years, Diane, built a log cabin in Meeker Park in 1968, where they enjoyed summers with their family. In addition to Diane, Gus is survived by his two children, Katy (Ole) Sykes of Estes Park, and Bob (Mary) of Hastings, Nebraska, and three grandchildren, Sarah, Ann, and Andrew Wolf. His service was held on Oct. 24, 2016, at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, followed by interment at the Estes Park Memorial Gardens.
