Harold Mace "Hal" French Obituary
Harold (Hal) Mace French, 86, left this earth to join his wife, Lou French, in Heaven on October 19, 2014. Hal was born to Mace and Agatha French on March 25, 1928, in Ellicottville, New York.
Hal met Lou on a blind date to go square dancing. They were blessed with three children. Of many adventures, the greatest being a trip around the world for this family of five, and living for 2 years in Australia.
As an electrical engineer, Hal's career began with Hughes Space and Communications Company. He helped build the Surveyor I which made its first landing on the Moon in 1966 and provided critical information for future astronauts.
Hal's second career was as a counselor with Faith Presbyterian in Aurora, Colorado. He also actively served the church community in Estes Park.
Hal was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors, as did his wife, Lou. The couple was affectionately known as "Hallelujah".
Hal is survived by his three children, Jim French and his wife, Susan Houghton, from Leadville, Colorado, Donna French and her husband, Rich Studer of Aurora, Colorado and Joan Silver and her husband, Brad from Woodbridge, Virginia. Hal also had 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
His children have many happy memories of their dad from having traveled all over the world.
A celebration of Hal French's life, will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Good Samaritan's in Estes Park. Please join us in the main dining room.
