John Robert Jensen Obituary
John Robert Jensen, a 48 year resident of Estes Park, passed away on April 19, 2018 at the Prospect Park Living Center. John was born June 1, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Catherine and Laurence Jensen. Upon graduating from Rockhurst High School, a Jesuit Catholic school, in 1944 at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army and served as a Sergeant in the infantry. In 1947, after being discharged from the army, he went on to attend the University of Kansas. In 1950 he married Mary Peterson, and upon graduating in 1951, he began working for and became a partner with what is now known as H&R Block. He left the partnership in 1964 and started his own accounting and tax firm in Prairie Village, Kansas. In 1970, after spending several Christmas' in Estes Park, Colorado, with his wife and 7 children, they decided to move to Estes Park. Where he continued with his accounting and tax firm, Jensen Business Services, until 2012 when he retired. John was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jensen, brother Arthur Jensen, and sister Vivian Cummings. He is survived by his 7 children, Dr. John C "Chris" Jensen (Dagmar) of Cham, Switzerland, Catherine "CJ" Jensen of Estes Park, CO, Carol Roble (John) of Seaside, California, Cynthia Schmitz (John) of Daytona Beach, Florida, Charles Jensen (Elizabeth) of Lakewood, CO, Caren Sundby (Tom) of Broomfield, CO, Claudia Thompson (Mike) of Lafayette, CO and 5 grandchildren, Sarah Jensen of Monte Sahaja, Portugal, Mira Jensen (Joël) of Mühlau, Switzerland, Katherine Jensen of Golden, CO, Arah Jensen of Golden, CO, Jonathon Jensen of Golden, CO, great granddaughter Emily Curtet of Mühlau, Switzerland and a nephew Will Cummings (Mary) of Boston, MA. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the residents of the Prospect Park neighborhood, for watching out for John for so many years, the Prospect Park Living Center, where the staff took such great care of him this last year, and to Cathy "CJ" Jensen, for being there for him every day.
