The family moved to Colorado in 1934. Her father worked as a station agent for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and bid for a new job each year. Laurene taught school for 38 years in California (4 years), Greeley and Fort Collins. She was an avid Bronco and Rockies fan. She was preceded in death by husband, Dr. Willard Nicholl, her parents, and a brother, Max Dufford, Jr., step-son Mark Barraclough and step son-in-law Pete McDonnell. She married Joseph Barraclough in 1985, who survives after 31 years, 11 months and 14 days of a happy marriage. She is also survived by step children Paula Wacker (Bill), Matt (Jo) and Michelle; grandchildren Amanda, Brian, Christian and Connor, great grandchildren Opal and Jordan, and goddaughter Kris O'Donnell (Darren).
