Linda Lee (Beckett) Steele Obituary
Long-time Estes Park resident Linda Steele passed away June 14, 2014 at her home. She was 76. Linda Lee Beckett was born to Roy J. and Glenna (Cromer) Beckett on August 9, 1937 in Greensburg, KS.
The family lived on a wheat farm near Greensburg before moving to a ranch in the Boise City, OK area. Later, they relocated to Limon, CO where Linda graduated from high school in 1955. On July 24, 1955 she married Marvin Steele at the 1st Baptist Church in Limon. On May 27, 1957 the couple moved to Estes Park. She was a homemaker and had worked for Western Brands, Estes Park Lumber, Johnson's Dry Goods, and Geppetto's Toy Store.
Linda was a member of the Community Church of the Rockies. She served as President of the Christian Women's Club, and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. Linda enjoyed gardening, cooking, and reading. Decorating, traveling, and visiting with family and friends were other favorites of hers. Linda looked forward to painting figurines at the Senior Center each week. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and involved in her children's activities, including Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was proud to have hiked Twin Sisters Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Roy J. Beckett, brothers Roy D. "Dink" Beckett, Jim Beckett, and Phil Beckett.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marvin Steele, mother Glenna Beckett of Hugoton, KS, son Jeff Steele and wife Sara of Westminster, CO, son Jon Steele of Tucson, AZ, granddaughter Courtney Steele of Broomfield, CO, brothers Larry (Denise) Beckett of Wiley, CO, Mike (Marissa) Beckett of Balko, OK, and sister Carole (Jerry) Monks of Limon, CO. She is also survived by her brothers' wives, Dee Beckett Pastirchak, Toni Beckett and Carolyn Beckett and by Marvin's sister Glenda (Steele) Pyle and husband Jack, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church or Hospice of the Estes Valley in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Ave., Estes Park, CO 80517. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of Estes Park Medical Center and the staff of Hospice of the Estes Valley for their compassionate, supportive care and to friends for their loving help and concern.
