Lorna T. (Thomas) Beck Obituary
Lorna T. Beck, age 93, of Bainbridge, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014.

Born August 17, 1921 in Morton, IN, she was daughter of Russell E. and Laurel (Butcher) Thomas and a graduate of Bainbridge High School "Class of 1940". She married Raymond F. Beck on January 30, 1943 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2007.

Lorna and Ray owned the Plum Creek Valley Farm in Bainbridge, raising Hereford Cattle since 1980. She had previously served as the Executive Secretary for the Shelby County United Fund from 1975-1976; served as the Shelby County Assessor from 1967-1974 (being the first women and first Republican to be elected to this office); was the communications and accounting office worker for Allison Division of General Motors from 1943-1946; and worked as a telephone operator at Indiana Communications Corp, Greencastle from 1940-1943.

She was a member of the Brick Chapel United Methodist Church and formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church Shelbyville; a Regent with the Daughters of American Revolution; member of the Putnam County Republican Women's Club; and the Shelby County Republican Party.

Survivors include her children, Pamela Beck (David) Danner, Jann C. Beck, and Thomas W. (Laura) Beck; grandchildren, Constance (Tony) Solina, Laurel (Jarrette) Marley, and Morgan Danner; great grandchildren, Rhys Solina and David Scott Marley.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Betty Hughes, Margaret Lyons, and Wayne Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the Brick Chapel United Methodist Church.
